How to Integrate Facebook Leads with Hatch

Hatch is a speed-to-lead messaging platform built for home services and home improvement contractors. It fires off text, email, and call campaigns the moment a new lead lands, so you reach people while the job is still on their mind. Hatch doesn't have a native Facebook Lead Ads integration (their docs point you at Zapier), so LeadSync plugs the gap - new Facebook leads land in Hatch within seconds and trigger the campaign you've set up for them.

Before you start

  • You need a Hatch account. Hatch doesn't offer a self-serve trial; if you're not a customer yet, book a demo at usehatchapp.com.
  • You need admin access to the Facebook page generating leads.
  • You need a LeadSync account. A free trial is enough to get set up and send a test lead.

Step 1: Create a custom source in Hatch

Hatch routes incoming contacts into campaigns based on their source, so LeadSync needs a source of its own.

  1. In Hatch, open the App Marketplace.
  2. Go to the Custom Sources tab.
  3. Create a new custom source and name it something recognisable, like LeadSync.
  4. Note the source value exactly as Hatch shows it (for example custom:leadsync). You'll paste this into LeadSync in Step 3.

If you want Hatch to start a speed-to-lead campaign automatically for these leads, point a campaign at this source in Hatch.

Step 2: Create your Hatch API key

  1. Still in the App Marketplace, switch to the API Keys tab.
  2. Create a new API key and label it LeadSync.
  3. Copy the key.

Step 3: Add the Hatch connection in LeadSync

  1. Log in to LeadSync and click Connections → Add Connection.
  2. Select Hatch from the dropdown.
  3. Paste the API key into the Hatch API key field.
  4. Paste the source value from Step 1 into the Hatch source value field, exactly as Hatch shows it.
  5. Give the connection a recognisable name (e.g. Hatch - main) and click Update Connection.

Both fields are required. The source value must match a custom source that exists in your Hatch account, or Hatch will reject every lead.

Step 4: Pair a Facebook lead form to your Hatch connection

  1. Go to Lead Forms → Add Facebook Lead Form.
  2. Select the Page the leads come from.
  3. Select the Form you want to sync.
  4. Select the Hatch connection you just created.
  5. Map each Facebook field to a Hatch field:
  6. Facebook phone_number → Hatch Phone number (strongly recommended - Hatch's campaigns are text and call first)
  7. Facebook email → Hatch Email
  8. Facebook first_name → Hatch First name
  9. Facebook last_name → Hatch Last name
  10. Any custom Facebook question → type a label of your choice; it's stored on the Hatch contact as a custom detail field.
  11. Click Update Notifications.

Each lead needs at least a phone number or an email address to be accepted. Leads missing both are skipped and logged.

Test the connection

Here's how to test your connection. A test lead should appear in Hatch as a contact within seconds, tagged with your custom source, and any campaign watching that source will pick it up.

Troubleshooting

Leads aren't appearing in Hatch. Check your user log in LeadSync under Account → Logs for a Hatch Error: line. The two most common causes are an invalid API key and a source value that doesn't match any custom source in your Hatch account.

The log shows an error mentioning source. The source value on your LeadSync connection doesn't exactly match a custom source configured in Hatch. Open Hatch's App Marketplace → Custom Sources, copy the value again, and paste it into the connection settings in LeadSync, then click Update.

The same person keeps updating instead of creating a new contact. That's by design. Hatch deduplicates by phone number first, then email - a repeat submission updates the existing contact rather than creating a duplicate, so your campaign history stays on one record.

A lead was skipped. Leads with neither a phone number nor a valid email can't enter Hatch. Check that your Facebook form collects at least one of the two and that the field is mapped in Step 4.
